ITDC Hosts Inspiring International Women’s Day Interaction with Actor Mita Vasisht

New Delhi, March 11, 2026:
The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, marked International Women’s Day with a special interactive session featuring acclaimed actor Mita Vasisht. The event, titled “Women of ITDC:  The Shakti Behind Excellence,” was held at KautilyaHall, Hotel Samrat, New Delhi, bringing together participants comprising of ITDC’s executive and non-executive women employees for an engaging conversation on the role of women in the arts and society. The students of IHM Ashok added some youthful energy to the afternoon.

The session featured Mita Vasisht sharing insights from her journey in theatre, cinema, and television, reflecting on the power of creative expression, the importance of individual voice, and the evolving space for women in the cultural and artistic landscape. Her candid reflections resonated strongly with the audience and highlighted the role of storytelling and artistic expression in shaping perspectives and driving social dialogue.

A graduate of National School of Drama, New Delhi, MitaVasisht has worked in both off-beat cinema and mainstreamfilms, and web series. She has directed a documentary film, and written and produced three short films.

Apart from acting, she is also involved in social and humanitarian work.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Mugdha Sinha, IAS, Managing Director – ITDC, said:

“This is a very important occasion because the United Nations has this year decided to celebrate International Women’s Day with the important theme: rights, justice and action. Rights come with a lot of responsibility. We are not just celebrating women but also the sisterhood of women. Being a woman comes with the responsibility of ensuring that all women can walk together; that we can be enablers for everybody’s growth and that is how I understand women’s rights, with reciprocity towards responsibility. The theme for this year is ‘Give To Gain’. So I think we must never shy away from giving.”

“Days like these are about awareness, about remembering, and we have today the perfect role model with us, the very down-to-earth actor Mita Vasisht,” she added.

Sharing her experience, Mita Vasisht said, “I’m very moved to be a part of this afternoon. I feel especially honoured because every member of the audience is so much a ‘Shakti’ in herself.”

She added, “I am very fond of The Ashok because it is one of the oldest hotels and it feels like the grand days of 5-star hotels with such beautiful green lawns and gracious Indian architecture. Everyone who works here not just has a sense of the hotel but also the country they are representing, i.e. our India.”
